About the Journal

Scope and reach of the journal

Studia Romanica Posnaniensia is a peer-reviewed journal issued quarterly (in March, June, September and December). The thematic scope of the journal includes: linguistics and the history of Romance languages, research on the literature of Romance-speaking world, theory of translation and foreign language acquisition. The journal also publishes transdisciplinary work. Studia Romanica Posnaniensia is a platform for the presentation of results and the exchange of ideas for the international research community interested in various aspects of the languages, literatures and cultures of Romance-speaking countries. The journal is published both in print and online. There is no fee for the procedure of submission, acceptance and publication of texts.

Peer-review process

  1. Each publication is assessed by two independent reviewers who are recognized experts in the field of a particular themed issue of the journal. At least one of the reviewers is affiliated with a foreign academic institution (outside Poland).
  2. Reviews are performed on the basis of the double-blind peer review model, i.e. they are mutually anonymous. Until the review is submitted, the Editorial Board of the journal removes the author’s identification data from the text submitted to the reviewers: name and surname, affiliation, e-mail address, acknowledgments, indication of sources of funding, etc.
  3. Each review is made in writing and ends with an unambiguous opinion on whether the paper is accepted for publication or rejected. In the case of one positive review and one negative review, the proposed paper is rejected. However, the author may apply to the Editorial Board of the journal to appoint another reviewer, whose opinion is conclusive. The application, addressed to the Editor-in-Chief of the journal (basia@amu.edu.pl), states the reasons why, in the applicant's opinion, the article should be subject to additional evaluation.
  4. The names of the reviewers of individual issues are revealed in the last issue published in a given year.

 Open access policy

The journal provides immediate, open, free access to all its content in accordance with the principle that freely available research increases and accelerates the global development of science and the exchange of knowledge. The Editorial Board encourages authors to place the papers published in the journal in open repositories with a link to the work on the journal's website and the DOI number of the article.

Publication ethics

Editor responsibilities

Upon submission of an article, the Editorial Board verifies its content in terms of its substantive value (in the review process) and compliance with guidelines on academic publishing ethics.

The Editorial Board undertakes to comply with the deadlines set out in the call for papers, to assist authors and reviewers in exposing (potential) conflicts of interest, and to take appropriate measures in the event of non-compliance with ethical standards. Confidentiality of the submitted data and texts is ensured, so until publication they remain known only to members of the Editorial Board and – to the extent necessary – to the reviewers; they may not be used in any way without the written consent of the author.

The criteria for evaluating the submitted manuscripts are public and have been included in the refereeing template. These include, but are not limited to: originality of the subject matter and innovative character of the content, quality of argumentation and evidence, adherence to methodological requirements, stylistic quality, etc. In its work, the Editorial Board of the journal is guided by the principles of equality, neutrality and independence. Ethnic and national origin, political beliefs, race, religion, age, gender and sexual identity of the authors do not have any influence on the evaluation of the submitted manuscripts.

In the event of doubts regarding compliance with the guidelines on academic publishing ethics (such as plagiarism, fabrication of results, ghostwriting, guest authorship and others) or possible conflicts of interest, the Editorial Board reserves the right to suspend editorial work on the submitted manuscript, reject the submitted text or withdraw it from publication. The editors of Studia Romanica Posnaniensia assert that cases of negative practice will be made public, including the notification of appropriate institutions such as authors’ employers, academic societies, or scientific editors’ associations.

Reviewer responsibilities

Upon undertaking to review a manuscript, the reviewers make a commitment to maintain the confidentiality of the review process, to respect timeliness, maintain the objectivity of the assessment and ensure its compliance with academic standards, as well as inform about conflicts of interest and possible violations of ethical principles. Comments included in the review should be effectively substantiated. The reviewed manuscript and its reviews are anonymous. They must not be shared with people who are not involved in the review process. Until the paper is published, the reviewer is not permitted to use the content of the evaluated paper in any way.

Author responsibilities

Authors may only submit their own, original, previously unpublished texts to Studia Romanica Posnaniensia. These should be written in appropriate style and form. By submitting a manuscript, the author undertakes to comply with the ethical principles concerning the publication of research results, to avoid multiple and parallel submissions, to disclose information about the sources of funding and the contribution of scientific and research institutions to the results presented (the information required includes the number and title of the grant, as well as the name of the institution awarding it), and to remain in constant contact with the Editorial Board until the manuscript is unequivocally accepted or rejected. In the event of becoming aware of a significant error in a manuscript undergoing the publishing process, the author is obliged to inform the Editorial Board about it and cooperate in order to remove the error or withdraw the article.

Data sources and any information cited from other papers or from other persons should be indicated in accordance with the ethical standards applicable to the editing of research papers and in accordance with the editorial principles of the journal. In the case of a multi-authored article, the contribution of individual authors to its creation should be determined, including an indication of the authorship of individual concepts and editorial units (subsections, paragraphs, footnotes). The main responsibility lies with the author submitting the manuscript, or in the case of a collective submission – the author listed first. All authors identified in the article must have made a real contribution to obtaining the presented research results. They are also required to provide information about potential or actual conflicts of interest.

Authors are obliged to sign a publishing agreement with Adam Mickiewicz University Press in Poznań and an agreement for granting a royalty-free license to works with a commitment to grant a CC sub-license.

In the event of authors failing to comply with the above rules, the Editorial Board reserves the right to suspend the publication of articles at any stage of editorial work.
