TASKS AND COMPETENCIES OF INDIVIDUAL BODIES

Scientific Council:

  1. Supervises the substantive level of the journal;
  2. In consultation with the editor-in-chief, designates the areas of research undertaken as part of individual thematic issues;
  3. Ensures ethics are observed and informs the editor-in-chief of cases of scientific misconduct;
  4. Promotes the journal in the national and international scientific community.

Editor-in-Chief:

  1. Works with members of the Scientific Council;
  2. Supervises the work of the editorial team;
  3. Ensures the journal is in accordance with ethical and substantive standards;
  4. Supervises the selection of reviewers process;
  5. Works with the journal’s publisher;
  6. Determines the publishing plan;
  7. Analyses and approves the journal’s content;
  8. Presents the journal at scientific meetings and conferences.

Assistant Editors:

  1. Collaborate with the editor-in-chief and thematic editors to make decisions regarding the selection of the journal’s editor, as well as further processing or rejection of text;   
  2. In the event of suspected ethical violations by authors and/or reviewers, they suspend publication of the text and notify the appropriate body indicated by the author and/or reviewer regarding suspected scientific misconduct;  
  3. Approve the list of reviewers and forward it to the editor-in-chief;
  4. Approve texts intended for publication and present them to the editor-in-chief; 
  5. Submit journal numbers to national and international scientific databases in which the journal is indexed.  

Thematic Editors:

  1. Pre-assess the substantive and linguistic value of the texts and their compliance with the theme of the journal;
  2. Collaborate with the editor-in-chief and assistant editors to make decisions regarding further proceedings or rejection of text;  
  3. Consult the journal’s editor on the selection of reviewers depending on the subject of the text and the methodology adopted by authors;
  4. Collaborate with the journal’s editor regarding substantive matters and language.   

Journal Editor:

  1. Analyzes received texts and opinions expressed by thematic editors;
  2. Collaborates with assistant editors and thematic editors regarding the list of reviewers; 
  3. Contacts reviewer candidates, obtains consent for reviewing, sends texts for review and conducts ongoing correspondence with reviewers;     
  4. Forwards received reviews to authors of texts;
  5. Ensures authors have taken into account the comments and recommendations of reviewers;
  6. Ensures texts comply with the guidelines for authors;
  7. Consults with language and thematic editors on substantive and language matters;   
  8. Forwards ready texts to the technical editor, receives them after completion and sends them to authors for correction;  
  9. Ensures proper corrections have been made;
  10. Forwards the final version of texts to assistant editors for their approval. 

Editorial Secretaries:

  1. Keep a database of submitted texts;
  2. Inform authors of editors' decision to either reject text or continue with work;  
  3. Work with the PTN treasurer to send copies of the journal to authors and members of the editorial team;
  4. Keep correspondence on current matters related to the journal;
  5. Edit letters on matters related to promotion of the journal;
  6. Update the journal’s website;
  7. Check accepted articles in the anti-plagiarism system;
  8. Upload journals to the PRESSto platform;
  9. Work with the PTN chairman and the editor-in-chief.

Language Editors:

  1. Evaluate and proofread the texts submitted for print;   
  2. Consult with the journal’s editor and thematic editors on the use of language in the journal.   

Statistical Editor:

  1. Ensures correct statistical methods have been used by authors;
  2. In cooperation with the editor-in-chief, gathers information on the citation of articles and assessment indicators of the journal.

Technical Editor:

  1. Submits and edits the journal; 
  2. Is responsible for the graphic elements of the journal;
  3. Sends texts for editorial and author corrections;  
  4. Applies proposed changes and necessary corrections, and then sends the issue to the printing house; 
  5. Mediates in financial matters between the printing house and journal editors;
  6. Submits new issues of the journal to Index Copernicus;
  7. Collaborates with the editor-in-chief, journal editors and editorial secretaries.
