The Legal History Journal (CPH) is a leading Polish scientific peer-reviewed periodical dedicated to the history of law, particularly research on the history of political and legal systems, the history of political and legal doctrines, the history of Roman and canon law, religious law, and the history of law as a science. CPH publishes texts authored by scholars from Poland and abroad, especially in Polish and English, but also accepts works in German, French, and Italian. The journal is published electronically, and all texts are subject to an open-access policy. CPH is the oldest Polish journal in the field of legal history – it has been published continuously since 1948 and was founded by Professor Zygmunt Wojciechowski.

There are no fees for submitting, processing or publishing an article in CPH.

Published by Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland, Faculty of Law and Administration. From 2021 the electronic version is the original one.

We warmly invite you to read the latest issue of CPH!

This issue includes ten articles on a variety of topics, from the role of ritual in the granting of diplomas in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, to the activities of the Civil Special Court in Warsaw and the history of forced sterilization in California.

Between law and memory: the birth of the Italian Republic (online lecture)

CPH is organizing the first series of invited online lectures in legal history. The lectures will be delivered either by members of the Advisory Board of CPH or by scholars invited by the Editorial Team of the Journal. The third lecture by Prof. Alessia Maria Di Stefano (University of Catania) will be held online on June 13th, at 4:00 pm, and is titled 'Between law and memory: the birth of the Italian Republic'.
